Peter Bain

As a designer, Peter Bain’s work has been recognized by AIGA and the Type Directors Club; and published in Communication Arts. Prior to founding his own studio, he was Type Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in New York. He has taught or led workshops at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University, Parsons School of Design/The New School, and at Pratt Institute. Bain co-curated with Paul Shaw the exhibition “Blackletter: Type and National Identity” for the Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography, at The Cooper Union. His letterpress book “Writing Knowledge” is in the collections of Princeton University Library and the Flaxman Library at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He received his M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University.
